7 Tips On How To Wear Makeup With Glasses

If you wear glasses and love makeup, you’ve probably experienced some frustrations, like marks on your nose from foundation or not knowing how to show off your eyes. Many people alternate with contacts when they want to wear makeup, but contacts aren’t always an option for many reasons. Here are the best tips on how to wear makeup with glasses:

#1. Use the right foundation

You can wear a liquid foundation if you have glasses, but it’s a good idea to apply a little powder over the foundation. This sets the makeup and helps prevent your glasses from sliding on your nose, taking the foundation with them. You should also consider using a foundation meant to stay on a long time, so look for terms like waterproof, water-resistant, and smudge-proof.

#2. Adjust eyeliner thickness based on your frames

When applying eyeliner, you actually want to draw lines that match your frames. If your frames are thicker, a thick line is best. This probably makes sense, since thick frames can hide your eyes if they aren’t outlined boldly. However, with thinner frames, you want a softer, thinner line. This is because your eyes aren’t hidden as much with more delicate frames, and a thick line will create too much contrast. It’s all about balance.

#3. Use a light eyeliner on your lower water lines

If you’re concerned that your glasses make your eyes look smaller, you can create a bit of an illusion with a light eyeliner on your lower water line. White, beige, or even silver will work. Putting liner on your water line can be tricky, so dry your waterline before applying. This helps the color stay in place longer.

#4. Choose your shadow colors carefully

When using eye shadow, you probably don’t want a color that clashes with your frames, but that doesn’t mean color is out of the question. If you’re keeping things simple with colors in the same family as your frames, start with a base that’s just a shade lighter. For your eye crease, go with a darker shade. If you want your eyes to really stand out, you’ll actually want a shadow that’s lighter and brighter than your frame colors.

#5. For lashes, focus on curl, not length

Eyelashes that hit the frames is one of the most annoying things that can happen when you wear makeup with glasses. To fix that problem, you should focus on the curl of the lash and not the length. Get an eyelash curler. Curling the lash up also makes your eyes look bigger.

#6. Wear concealer under your eyes

If you’ve noticed your glasses cast a shadow under your eyes, making you look tired, don’t worry. Using a brightening concealer will offset that darkness and make you look more refreshed and alert.

#7. Match frame boldness with lipstick

What about lipstick? In general, the bolder the frame, the bolder you can go with your lips. If you don’t want to draw too much attention away from your eyes when you’re wearing light frames, a more neutral lip is probably the way to go. When it comes to makeup with glasses, however, you can play around more with lipstick. Finding the lipstick that goes well with your skin tone is the important thing.
